You will be charged an administration load fee by Cash Passport for the initial load and subsequent reloads of an Australian dollar Cash Passport. 2 The prevailing exchange rate is locked in for the initial load value. Subsequent card reloads will be processed at the then prevailing exchange rate on the day of the reload transaction, and will be locked in at that rate.

Getting started

To start using a Multi-currency Cash Passport, follow these simple steps.

When you buy a Multi-currency Cash Passport online, you need to pay by BPAY® within 4 hours of placing your order and choose an Australia Post retail outlet to collect your card from.

Your card will be ready to collect within 5 business days.

To buy a Multi-currency Cash Passport in-store, you need to complete an application form and pay for your card by cash or EFTPOS2. Your funds will be available when your card has been activated.

You can pay directly at over 31.4 million MasterCard® merchants and online, with no transaction fees#. Or withdraw cash in local currency from more than 1.9 million Visa ATMs around the world, with no ATM fees#.

Activate your Cash Passport

You need to activate your card before you start using it. To activate it, call 1800 098 231 and follow the prompts.

You can top-up your travel money at any time by reloading your card online via BPAY® with Access Prepaid Worldwide. Once you've placed your order, you need to pay for it within 4 hours. Your reload will then be processed and the funds will be available on your card within 2 business days.

You can reload your Multi-currency Cash Passport at any participating Australia Post retail outlet. You'll need to complete an application form and show us your current Australian or international passport, or Australian driver's licence.

You can pay in-store using cash or EFTPOS2 and funds will be available on your card within approximately 2 business hours.

Manage your Cash Passport account online

Once you register your card, you can manage your account online wherever you travel. With a registered online account you can:

  • view your balance and transaction history
  • update your contact details
  • find your nearest Visa ATM locations

Withdraw the balance on your Multi-currency Cash Passport

You can use your card until its expiry date which is printed on the front of the card.

If you want to have the balance refunded to your bank account, visit a participating Australia Post retail outlet and complete a Balance Withdrawal Form. Fees will apply3.

Have a Cash Passport Debit or ATM Card? You can still reload online with Access Prepaid Worldwide1.

Please note: Cash Passport Debit and ATM Cards are no longer available for purchase through Australia Post and they can only be reloaded online.

Frequently asked questions

What should I do if my card is lost or stolen? Click to expand Click to collapse

Contact the Cash Passport team straight away using their 24/7 Global Emergency Assistance support service.

If only one card has been lost or stolen, you can still use your second card to access your money, after your lost card is cancelled.

If both cards are lost or stolen, Cash Passport will send you replacement cards within 48 hours (depending on your location) free of charge. Emergency funds up to the balance of your lost or stolen card can also be arranged.

The only person who can collect your Multi-currency Cash Passport is you.

When you order and collect your card from your nominated Australia Post outlet, you'll need to show us your current Australian passport or current Australian driver's licence.
