Teachers: Curriculum support

Welcome to Santa Mail

This program is designed to encourage lower primary students to practise their letter writing skills by writing to Santa.

New Santa Mail guidelines and addressing details

As you can imagine, Santa Mail is a very busy time for Australia Post (and for Santa).

Over the last few years there's been a significant rise in the number of letters coming from schools, which we're thrilled about. To make sure all students have the best chance of getting a response from Santa, we've come up with some new guidelines.

If you're writing letters to Santa as a class activity, please follow these new Santa Mail guidelines and addressing details:

  1. Complete the Santa Mail class list template, including the address(es) to which the responses are to be sent. If all the responses are to be sent to your school, please include the school's address next to each student's name. If the responses are to be sent to individual students' homes, each student's address must be correctly entered on the class list template.
The template must be typed, not hand written.
  2. Print the template.
  3. Collect the individual letters and place them all in one large envelope with the Santa Mail class list template.
  4. Address your envelope using this new special school address for Santa Mail:
    Locked Bag 12000
    Dandenong South VIC 3164
  5. Please place the correct postage on your envelope.
  6. Post your envelope so the letters are received at Santa's Australian HQ in Victoria by Friday, 18 November 2016. This helps to ensure students receive their return letters from Santa by Friday, 16 December 2016.

Important note: Our goal is to make sure students get their responses before the last day of school. This date varies between states and territories, so please send your letters as soon as possible. If your school will be on holidays from early December, we'd recommend that you use your students' home addresses on the class list template.

Thank you, and happy letter writing!
