Australia Post education website – Our post – what's it all about?

The Australia Post education website, "Our post – what's it all about?" contains new and exciting education opportunities for lower primary, primary and middle years students. The teacher and student sections are divided into "Postie Kate and friends", designed for lower primary teachers and students and "Our post – what's it all about?" designed for middle to upper primary (and middle years) teachers and students. Teachers will find curriculum-linked lesson ideas and student activity sheets in a selection of PDF, HTML and SMART Notebook formats, as well as IWB-compatible multimedia fun for students. Students will find out all about Australia Post – its history, mail processing and delivery, postie safety, and technology and the future – as well as be able to enjoy games, quizzes, animations and more.

Santa Mail

Each Christmas Australia Post runs its Santa Mail program, which encourages children to write to Santa. If children use the special address supplied on the website they will even receive a reply (as long as they live in Australia).

Children can read all sorts of interesting facts about Christmas, write to Santa using an online letter writing interactive and have some fun with puzzles and activities.

Teachers will find curriculum-linked lesson and activity ideas and student activity sheets to help them incorporate the themes of Christmas and letter writing into their classroom programs.

Keep your eye on the website because Australia Post will be running the Santa Mail program again later this year.

Australia Post education website – Letter Link: AFL

"Letter Link: AFL" encourages primary school children from all backgrounds and cultures to connect with their local communities through Australian Football. Several Australian Football League (AFL) players have been chosen as Multicultural Ambassadors and students can write to any of these players (or any other AFL player or club). Teachers will find curriculum support material to help them incorporate the themes of cultural diversity, Australian Football and letter writing into their classrooms.

Australia Post education website – Letter Link: London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games

Australia Post's Letter Link: London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games program was a great success!

Thank you so much to everyone who wrote a letter to an Australian Olympic or Paralympic athlete in London. Whether you wrote your letter using the "Let's write a letter" interactive, or with your favourite pen and paper, all were greatly appreciated by the athletes.

The letters were delivered safely to the athletes, who were thrilled and proud to receive your messages of support and encouragement. Reading your words all the way from home was extremely inspiring for them.

Thank you also to all the teachers who encouraged their classes to write to our Olympic and Paralympic athletes in London and who ordered the specially designed Letter Link envelopes and education packs. The packs were extremely popular and we hope you found them to be a valuable classroom resource.

Whether you participated or not in Letter Link: London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, you can still check out the interactives and watch "The journey of your Letter Link letter" animation, to see how the Letter Link letters made their way to London. These can now be found in the Multimedia fun archive section of "Our Post – what's it all about?".

Keep your eye on the website because Australia Post will be running further Letter Link programs in the future.

Planet Ark

The Planet Ark Environmental Foundation aims to work with and teach people and businesses simple ways to reduce their impact on the planet, at home, at work and in the community.

The Cartridges 4 Planet Ark program was set up to stop Australia's printer cartridges ending up in landfill, where they pollute groundwater and soil. Australia Post joined the program in 2003 and encourages customers to drop their used inkjet and laser toner cartridges from home or office at over 1,800 of our outlets.
