Unaddressed Mail
Unaddressed Mail is Australia Post's lowest cost delivery service. It is a great way to reach consumers and businesses when you don't have their details.
You can choose to deliver to addresses nationwide, or you can target select localities1 or postcodes. Your Unaddressed Mail can be delivered to:
- street addresses
- roadside addresses
- post office boxes
- counter collection points
Unaddressed Mail articles do not contain a specific name for delivery, but may feature a title such as "To the householder".
Unaddressed Mail is ideal to send a wide range of promotional material, including:
- enveloped material, cards and postcards
- catalogues, flyers and brochures
- samples or coupons
- magazines.

Unaddressed Mail costs
Delivery of Unaddressed Mail in December will have a 50% surcharge applied.
Postage rates depend on:
- the size and weight of the article
- its destination

Contract rates
Customers lodging large amounts of Unaddressed Mail frequently may be able to negotiate a lower contract rate.
If you intend to lodge large amounts of Unaddressed Mail frequently speak to your Australia Post account manager or contact us for details on our contract rates.
Paying for Unaddressed Mail
Payment can be made either by using your Australia Post business credit account, cash, debit card or credit card or cheque (with prior approval). Unaddressed Mail cannot be paid for using a postage meter or postage stamps.
Using Unaddressed Mail
- Register to use the Unaddressed Mail service. This is a one-off process to set up your details in our Unaddressed Mail booking system. Register online now or, if you have already registered, proceed straight to step 2.
- Book your Unaddressed Mail campaign. This must be done at least 3 weeks before your intended delivery date (or in some instances bookings will be accepted 2 weeks before, but no amendments will be accepted). Identify and complete the correct booking form for your articles, returning it to us as indicated on the form.
- Non-political bookings use the Unaddressed Mail booking request (pdf 175kb) and can use our localities and postcodes to help target campaigns to select areas.
- Political bookings use the Unaddressed Mail Political booking request (pdf 137kb).
- Receive confirmation of your booking. Within 3 working days of submitting your request, one of our experienced Unaddressed Mail consultants will be in touch. They will ensure that your mailing needs are identified and met. They will also provide you with confirmation of your booking and advice on preparing and lodging your mail. This includes confirming the number of delivery points you will be reaching.
- Preparation of your articles. Your mail must be prepared as detailed in the Unaddressed Mail service guide (pdf 2,085kb). This may be done by yourself, your mail house or your printer. Visit our list of Bulk Mail Partners if you'd like to find a mail house to help prepare your Unaddressed Mail campaign.
- Lodge your Unaddressed Mail articles. Your articles must be lodged on the nominated date and at the nominated approved lodgement facility2. This will be shown on your booking confirmation advice and lodgement document. The Unaddressed Mail lodgement document will be provided to you when your booking is confirmed and must be submitted at the time of lodgment. Alternatively, your mail house may use the Electronic Lodgement Management System (eLMS) and arrange pick up of your articles.

1Locality: all address points for delivery by a specific Australia Post retail outlet or delivery centre.
2Approved lodgement facilities: Are those facilities nominated when applying for a business credit account. If you don't have an Australia Post business credit account you can lodge your articles at an Australia Post retail outlet.
