Postage meters print an indicia onto your mail piece indicating the postage value that has been downloaded via a modem. They offer a convenient and cost-effective method of payment for businesses sending bulk mail.
Meters are usually programmed with various postage rates, which depend on the type of mail you are sending. Once your postage has run out, it can be easily downloaded again any time of the day.
A 2.5% rebate is also provided every time you recharge your meter.
Postage meters supersede franking machines, and are equipped with more advanced features including the ability to download these features electronically via a modem - which means no more taking the machine to your local post office.
