Charity Mail
If you are a registered charity looking for cost-effective mail solutions, Australia Post can help save you money on your bulk mail outs using our Charity Mail® service.
We offer a special price to registered charities for small pre-sorted letters sent using our PreSort Letters delivery service.
There are a number of conditions you'll be required to meet in order to access our PreSort letter service:
- a minimum of 300 letters is required per lodgement
- letters are required to carry a barcode
- letters need to be sorted into particular postcode ranges before they are lodged.
Costs
Our postage rates depend on the destination, level of article sorting and the delivery standard required.
Charity Mail postage rates include GST and start from:
Small Charity Mail Letters $0.356c each
Full details of pricing are available in the Postal Charges booklet found on the Post Guide page.
Paying for Charity Mail
Payment can be made either by using your Australia Post business credit account, a postage meter, cash, debit card or all major credit cards.
How to get started
- Complete a Charity Mail application form and forward together with a copy of your Income Tax Exempt Charity (ITEC) letter issued by the Australian Tax Office to:
Charity Mail Approvals Officer
Operations & Industry Relations
GPO Box 1777
Melbourne, VIC 3001
Please ensure both the organisation name on the letter and your application form match. We'll then issue you with an 8-digit identification number to be used on all your mail outs. - You or your mail house needs to prepare your Charity Mail articles. As Charity Mail is a part of the PreSort Letters service, you prepare your articles in the same way as PreSort Letters - the only difference being that the Charity Mail Approval Number must appear on each article. Visit our list of Bulk Mail Partners if you need to find a mail house to help prepare your Charity Mail articles.
- Lodge your Charity Mail articles. Part of this process is to complete the PreSort Letters lodgement document or metered lodgement document (if you're paying using a postage meter) and take it together with the articles to your closest approved lodgement facility*.
If you're lodging more than 2,000 articles a PreSort Letters supporting document must also be completed. This details the number of articles and trays in each sort plan. Alternatively, your mail house may use the Electronic Lodgement Management System (eLMS) and arrange pick up of your articles.
