"The Australia Post experience has been incredibly positive. The people we have dealt with have been very accommodating and always eager to work together towards the end goal."
- Leigh Allison, Department of Human Services Director of BasicsCard and TPO Services

Background

The Department of Human Services is responsible for the development of service delivery policy and provides access to social, health and other payments and services, including managing the BasicsCard.

Challenge

Some unauthorised BasicsCard transactions were occurring at Post Offices, despite Australia Post being a non-approved outlet. The Department needed to stop these purchases from occurring.

Solution

The Department recognised the benefit in bringing Post Offices officially on board with the BasicsCard service. Australia Post modified its point of sale system to become an approved merchant.

Results

BasicsCard holders can now purchase approved goods and pay bills using Post Billpay at selected Post Offices. This increases BasicsCard approved outlets from more than 7,000 to more than 10,000 and reduces the number of interactions with the Department.
