Supporting Indigenous Australians

Australia Post's vision is to play a part in creating a better future for Indigenous Australians so they may fully participate in, and benefit from, the advantages enjoyed by all Australians.

We have a long standing commitment to improving the social and economic wellbeing of Indigenous Australians. Since our first employment strategy was launched in 1988, we have continued to promote greater workforce participation of our Indigenous Australians.

What are we doing?

In 2011, we extended our commitment by launching our first Reconciliation Action Plan and we've made steady progress over the past 12 months. We have achieved this by continuing to attract and retain talented and passionate Indigenous employees, formally acknowledge our traditional owners and establish stronger connections with the community and the building of new relationships.

As our business continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of Australians, our second Reconciliation Action Plan will continue to be very much a reflection of what we stand for - and who we are as an iconic Australian business.

Indigenous decal pin

Australia Post acknowledges the traditional owners of this land, their ancestors and elders, and is committed to reconciliation with Indigenous Australians

The decal on this badge, designed by Marcus Lee, is an acknowledgement by Australia Post of our first Australians and appears in retail stores across the Nation. Many of the colours incorporated in the artwork come from both the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island flags with the design representing the ongoing journey and connection Australia Post has with Indigenous communities.
