Sponsorship

Australia Post considers sponsorship of national, regional and local events and activities and organisations which offer opportunities to market Australia Post's products and services, or to communicate key messages and themes.

Australia Post's sponsorship programs seek to achieve a balance between community, environmental, sporting, educational, health and arts/cultural events and activities.

Sponsorship is support for an individual, organisation, team, event or program in return for the right to use that individual, organisation, team, event or program to promote the corporation's name, image, product and services.

Priority is given to sponsorships that recognise and uphold general community values, and relate to:

  • community benefit
  • direct business enhancement
  • image improvement.

Community investment and sponsorship programs are established at the beginning of each planning cycle, taking into consideration Australia Post's sponsorship and community investment framework and criteria and the prevailing budgetary environment. As such, Australia Post does not routinely call for sponsorship and community investment applications. For further information on existing programs, please email corporate.responsibility@auspost.com.au.

Australia Post Legends

Australia Post initiated the Australia Post Australian Legends Award in 1997 to honour living Australians who have made a unique contribution to our way of life, inspired the community and influenced the way Australians think about themselves and their country.

These are people whose achievements have inspired and enriched our lives, people who are motivated by the achievement of excellence and education of others.

The award comprises issuing a stamp in honour of each Legend(s). A range of philatelic products is produced as well as a book providing insights into each Australian Legend and their achievements.

The Australia Post Australian Legends Award is presented each year as part of Australia Day celebrations to honour individuals who have made a lifetime contribution to the development of our national identity and character. Recipients of the Australia Post Australian Legends Award have been:

Stawell Gift

The Australia Post Stawell Gift carnival is where you can enjoy the unique country atmosphere of north-western Victoria with action packed record breaking athletic achievements. The Gift, which has been held in all but four years since 1878, has long been a premier event on the Australian Sporting Calender.

As Australia's longest continually operating organisation in Australia it is fitting that we have partnered with Australia's oldest and most prestigious footrace. Australia Post has been the naming rights sponsor of the Gift for 16 years, making it our longest ever sponsorship.

Health

Staff Health and Wellbeing

Australia Post provides a health and wellbeing program for all employees. As part of this program, and recognising that men's issues play an important role in employee wellbeing, Post has been a financial supporter of Mensline Australia since 2002. Post now sponsors a dedicated Mensline Australia telephone counselling line for Post's men.

Mensline Australia is a confidential, telephone support service for men who have family and relationship concerns. It offers practical, short-term, professional, non-judgemental support, information and referral. It's available from anywhere in Australia for the cost of a local call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

For more information, visit Mensline Australia.

Melanoma Research

Since 1998, Australia Post has supported the Australia Post Medical Research Fellowship through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. This fellowship provides continued support for melanoma research.

Breast Cancer Network Australia

Australia Post is a major sponsor of Breast Cancer Network Australia's community based Mini-Field of Women events. Mini-Fields, held in over 80 communities across Australia, raise public awareness and funds for breast cancer.

Australia Post is also providing free delivery of Breast Cancer Network Australia's My Journey kit. The kit contains information and resources for women newly diagnosed with breast cancer, plus a repository for test results and a personal journal. BCNA has developed the content of the kit by consulting Australian women who have experienced breast cancer.

The My Journey kit is particularly important for women living in rural and regional Australia, as typically there is limited or no access to specialist care, treatment and services in these areas, resulting in many women having to travel long distances to receive treatment.
