Recycling phones to help families in need

Old phones, more chickens
Until 31 January 2012, MobileMuster in partnership with Oxfam, is running the Old phones, more chickens campaign - where MobileMuster will give a chicken to a family living in poverty in Laos, for every two mobile phones recycled.* The chickens will be provided by the Oxfam Unwrapped program. Families can use the eggs for food and to sell at markets as a source of income.
Just collect a satchel from retail outlets, place the old mobile phone including the battery still connected to the handset into one compartment of the satchel and old chargers and/or accessories in the other section and post it in any street posting box.
By recycling your phones and accessories, you are helping the environment by decreasing the volume of mobile phones and accessories going to landfill. Over 90% of the materials in mobile phones, batteries and accessories can be recovered and used as raw materials in the manufacture of new products.
* MobileMuster will provide up to 2,000 chickens.
