We will achieve this by embedding sustainability criteria within our decisions on the products and services we offer.
As a major corporation that touches almost every Australian, we recognise the importance of offering our customers products and services that are environmentally responsible.
Our corporate responsibility program takes a holistic view, which means we embed it across all areas of the business, including our product and service portfolio.
Six areas of focus underpin the achievement of this strategic goal.
- Ensuring we understand our customers' needs.
Having a clear understanding of our customers' needs is the starting point in being able to offer responsible products and services. - Monitoring what other organisations are doing locally and internationally regarding environmentally-responsible products and services.
We recognise that we don't have all the answers in developing new ideas and initiatives so we regularly monitor and evaluate local and international trends and provide this information to relevant business areas to inform the development of their products and services. - Identifying opportunities to make our existing products and services more environmentally-friendly.
We are currently conducting a life cycle analysis of some of our key products and services. Life cycle analysis looks at the environmental impacts, from raw materials extraction and processing through to end-of-life. We will extend this program progressively across all of our product and service portfolios. - Integrating corporate responsibility into our internal marketing processes.
Importantly, corporate responsibility is being incorporated into all of our new campaigns, product and service design, market assessments and channel preferences to ensure we continue to deliver social and environmentally responsible products and services to the Australian community. - Creating a pipeline of new environmentally-friendly product and service opportunities.
Part of our commitment to corporate responsibility will be reflected through the development of new environmentally-responsible products and services. This will be primarily achieved through a formal innovation process that identifies customers' unmet sustainability needs. - Communicating our plans and achievements to our customers.
We will keep our customers regularly informed of our progress in corporate responsibility through relevant product promotions, customer publications and briefings from our customer contact personnel. Furthermore, we will explore opportunities to assist our customers in reducing their carbon footprints through innovative product and service solutions.
