Life Cycle Assessments

Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) are a way of measuring the impact of a product or service over its entire life. This involves measuring the impact from its raw materials and how they are extracted and refined, as well as manufacturing, distribution, use, maintenance and disposal of that product.

Australia Post is undertaking a carbon-based LCA of our entire operations. We are looking at the greenhouse gas emissions produced from all of our products and processes including our retail stores, fleet, mail processing centres, mailroom services, products and administration.

The completed LCA will provide us with a detailed map of our carbon footprint - information which will enable us to identify ways to reduce our impact and to deliver a more complete and robust level of public reporting.
