Mail trickling into safe areas following Cyclone Yasi

Australia Post has advised that there has been some impact to mail delivery to areas affected by Cyclone Yasi. As major roads and airports re-open, Australia Post is recommencing delivery where it is safe to do so. However full-scale deliveries in most instances will not be feasible until Monday.

Express Post deliveries will recommence via air on Friday 4 February.

Following advice from local authorities, Australia Post closed a total of 79 post offices ranging from Mackay through to Cooktown in preparation for the cyclone.

Australia Post will undertake a full damage assessment of facilities in the coming days.
