International mail delays
Tuesday, 20 April 2010
"Mail addressed to affected destinations is continuing to be processed by Australia Post as part of our normal procedures for International Mail delivery.
Any mail that has not been able to be airlifted is being securely stored awaiting airlift when planes are cleared to fly.
It is difficult to determine the exact volumes of mail impacted at this stage with mail either already in transit or dispatched by processing facilities awaiting airlift.
Mail that was dispatched by Australia Post to affected destinations prior to the 13th April has been uplifted and received at destination ports.
Next available services to these areas are not known at this time and cannot be confirmed until official notification from authorities on when flights can resume is received.
Australia Post is being kept informed by airlines as information comes to hand."
