BRW names Australia Post one of Australia's most innovative companies07 December 2012
Australia Post has been named as one Australia's most innovative companies as part of the 2012 BRW Most Innovative Companies list.
Australia Post is ranked 17th on the list, which recognises 30 of Australia's most innovative businesses. Other high-ranking companies included Commonwealth Bank, Coca-Cola Amatil and Westpac.
The submission required companies to address a range of questions, including how the organisation creates a culture that supports innovation, how our senior leaders actively drive and support innovation, and how the enterprise collaborates with external partners to deliver innovation.
Australia Post's 24/7 Parcel Lockers, Retail Superstores and new parcel Delivery Choices were highlighted as three significant innovations that Australia Post has implemented within the last 12 months to meet the changing needs of its customers and provide them with greater access, convenience and choice.
The new 24/7 Parcel Lockers were recognised as responding to the online shopping boom by giving time-poor customers a convenient new way to collect their parcels. The 24/7 parcel lockers were also awarded the number one fresh business idea for 2012 by BRW Magazine.
Australia Post has already installed 24/7 parcel lockers in 49 locations across the country in time for Christmas and will be rolling out the lockers nationally over the coming year to a further 200 locations.
The Retail Superstores were credited with providing customers with greater access, convenience and choice in the way they transact with Australia Post. They were also acknowledged for offering an unprecedented range of financial, identity, online and travel related services, 24-hour zones with postal product vending machines, self-service terminals to pay a bill or post a parcel, and ATMs.
Australia Post now has 31 superstores in place across the country, with Sydney receiving its first 24/7 superstore this week ahead of the biggest online shopping day ever.
Australia Post's Delivery Choices were awarded for supporting online retailers in giving their customers a range of innovative parcel delivery options at checkout. These include standard or express delivery, delivery on a specific date or day of the week and morning or afternoon deliveries.
Australia Post has also recently introduced time-specific deliveries within two-hour delivery windows ahead of Christmas.
