Tuesday, 20 September 2011

Australia Post is alerting customers to an unsolicited phishing email advising that the delivery of a package has failed because of an addressing error. These emails include references to Australia Post and instruct the recipient to open an attached file that, if opened, may install malware on the recipient's computer.

We recommend customers remain alert of unsolicited emails from organisations requesting personal or financial information. Australia Post does not send emails claiming that the delivery of a package has failed.

If customers are suspicious of an email regarding tracking a mail item, we encourage them to track their items online at auspost.com.au Australia Post is a regular supporter of National Cyber Security Awareness Week and is committed to helping Australians understand cybersecurity risks to help protect their personal information online.
